FTP test and what it told me

I've been avoiding the FTP test for weeks. Not because I was scared of the number, but because I knew I hadn't been training as consistently as I should. School, work, life — the usual excuses.

But yesterday I bit the bullet. Twenty-minute warm-up, then the ramp test. And honestly? It went better than I expected.

The numbers

New FTP

Previous FTP

W/kg

3.63

Three watts isn't a lot. But it's something. And it tells me the training is working, even if it doesn't feel like it day to day.

Progress is never linear. But it's always forward, even when it doesn't feel like it.

The bigger takeaway was my heart rate response. My LTHR came in at 183 bpm, which matches what I've been seeing on hard climbs. That means my zones are dialed correctly and I can trust the numbers.

Next step: build a proper polarized plan around this. More zone 2, more intensity, less junk miles.
