Finding flow on local trails
There's something about the local trails that keeps pulling me back. Not because they're the most technical or the longest, but because they're where I learned to ride. Every root, every rock, every corner — I know them all.
Today was supposed to be an easy spin. Two hours, zone 2, nothing crazy. But the legs felt good and the trails were running fast after yesterday's rain. So I opened it up a bit.
The technical section
There's a rocky descent I've been working on for months. It's short, maybe 200 meters, but it's steep, loose, and has a tight left-hander at the bottom. Today I cleared it for the first time without touching the brakes.
“The trail doesn't care how fast you were last time. It only cares about right now.”
That's the thing about flow. You can't force it. You can't chase it. It shows up when you stop thinking and just ride. Today I stopped thinking.

Nothing groundbreaking. Just a good ride on familiar trails with a clear head. Those are the best kind.
